Science Fiction. Fantasy. Feminism.

I've been so busy moving and acclimating to my new job over the past weeks that I haven't done anything very interesting. However, some of my friends have been crazy busy advancing their professional and artistic careers.

First up, my friend Max Cooper has just launched a
commercial site for his photography,

Max photographed Jeremy's and my wedding back when we were students. He's been on the local photography scene for a while, but he's finally getting some recognition for his documentary work. Here's a sample of a photo he took for our wedding. Our friend Adrianne is pinning a boutonniere on Jeremy's friend and groomsman Josh. ------>

He's also been keeping another web site, A Dark Topography,
with a complementary blog documenting his adventures (and misadventures) since mid-2005.

Also, our friend Nathan Ballingrud has been nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award for his short story "The Monsters of Heaven," which was published in Ellen Datlow's collection, Inferno. You can also read his story, "North American Lake Monsters," in the Del Ray Book of Science Fiction and Fantasy, which came out in April of this year. You can read his blog creature here.

Friendship aside, Max and Nathan are two incredibly talented people. Check out their work. You won't regret it.
